Open Systems operates the wholesale electric power market of Emcali
(Miami, Dec, 2009)

Open Systems Corp™, an industry leader in the development and implementation of BOSS solutions (Business and Operations Support Systems) for companies servicing the telecommunications and Public Utilities market, announces that Emcali put into operation the second phase of the SmartFlex implementation project. The scope of this project covers the administration, marketing and local distribution management of electric power in the non-regulated market.

“Our commitment is to support the operation of Emcali by the provisioning of support to the operation processes through the implementation of our BOSS solution which integrates BSS (Business Support Systems) functionalities with OSS (Operations Support Systems) functionalities, among them: invoicing, customer care, finance and operations” commented Benito Pardini, Manager of Open’s Software Development Center.

The new functionalities incorporated to SmartFlex will allow Email to implement better business practices, such as operation and invoicing, to the marketing of the wholesale non-regulated electric power market as well as the invoicing of the local distribution component to all network customers.

The grater advantage of having all information centralized in a single data base will allow Emcali to have at-hand information on all customers to which Emcali invoices electric power and also on those customers serviced by third parties over Emcali network, enabling the company to generate statistics and reports for the financial area, among other.

A friendly and agile tool which will benefit Emcali customers in aspects such as the standardization and regulation of processes between customer care and operations areas, among others, since the solution eliminates access to information from other data bases which simplifies queries and allows for prompt response to disquietudes, providing flexible support to the different electric power sale strategies such as hourly frames and minimum consumption conditions.

Luis Fernanda Suaza, Coordinator of the Emcali Project added: “The settlement and invoicing processes were implemented over SmartFlex at this second phase of the project with all functionalities configured and adapted to Emcali needs”.
